Photographs

This portion of the website is dedicated to the photographs I take while I’m out birding! I am very passionate about photography, and consider it to be one of the most important tools in my birding kit in this day and age. In fact, it would be incredibly rare to encounter me in the field without a camera in hand while I’m scouring the landscape for birds. An overwhelming majority of photographs on this site are going to be of birds, but when I run into other species of wildlife, or beautiful scenery, I’m always excited to photograph those as well. Throughout this overview page and within the galleries linked here, I’ve included my personal favorite images, not necessarily the best of the best from a technical standpoint. Typically if I feel something is of excellent quality, it’ll be included, but oftentimes my favorite observations don’t equate to the highest quality photographs since the stars don’t always align when something rare or unusual happens to briefly pop up. But, I may still opt to include images from those types of encounters here because of the importance of the observation, or of the memory to me personally. Depending on how frequently I’m able to get outdoors in a given month (i.e., this often shifts with the time of year), the volume of photographs included in galleries will vary. Some months, work, or weather just get in the way! Since July 2021, I’ve attempted to post monthly galleries of my favorite images from local day trips, and though there are a few gaps at present, it is my goal to fill in those missing timeframes soon. Lastly, I’ve also included my favorite photographs from vacations, taken away from my home region, but these are included at the bottom of this page.
